On 14 July 2010, Fondazione Marcegaglia was established.

For our family, this was never a finishing point, but rather the natural evolution of a journey driven by a growing commitment to people, communities and local territories. Sixteen years may seem a short time in the history of an industrial Group whose roots date back to 1959. Yet, for us, these years reflect an ever-growing commitment, built on continuous dialogue and relationships, thoughtful decisions and shared values.

For our family, business has always been closely linked to values: ethics, social responsibility, sensitivity towards those facing greater challenges, and a genuine commitment to supporting people with fewer opportunities. Our aim has always been to make a meaningful contribution to the wider community of which we are part. This is the most important legacy we inherited from our founders, Steno and Mira.

In 2010, we chose to give this legacy a structured form by establishing Fondazione Marcegaglia, which still represents the living expression of their vision and values.

Over these sixteen years, we have met thousands of people: women, young people, families, social workers, teachers, volunteers and partners who have shared ideas, projects and aspirations with us. Thanks to these relationships, the Foundation has grown, transforming values and responsibility into actions that create tangible social impact.

We have supported initiatives to combat gender-based violence, projects promoting employment and housing autonomy for vulnerable women, educational initiatives, scholarships, vocational training programmes and community development projects. We have done so by working alongside Anti-Violence Centres, social cooperatives, associations, public institutions and many Third Sector organisations that work every day with dedication and expertise. Through these partnerships, we have learned that lasting change can never be achieved alone.

Today, the Foundation is an integral part of our identity and of the way we understand business: a community built on relationships, expertise, shared vision and collective responsibility. More than ever, doing business means having the courage to innovate without losing sight of the human dimension of every decision, investing in people, promoting a healthy work culture and creating real opportunities, especially for those at risk of being left behind. A company is truly strong when it grows together with the community around it. In the long term, its resilience also depends on its ability to generate trust, dignity and inclusion.
