Addressing gender-based violence means acting not only to protect women who are victims of violence, but also to tackle the root causes that fuel the phenomenon. Within this framework, prevention work also involves holding men who perpetrate violence accountable, with the aim of reducing the risk of reoffending and strengthening the safety of women and communities.
Intervening in this area means investing in structured pathways that complement services for victims and enhance the overall effectiveness of territorial networks, in close synergy with Anti-Violence Centres.
It is from this perspective that, in the 2026–2027 biennium, Fondazione Marcegaglia supports two complementary initiatives: on the one hand, the strengthening of the national network of Centres for Men Who Use Violence (CUAV), and on the other, the consolidation of a regionally recognised local service – PUR Carrara – both focused on violence prevention and the protection of women.
RELIVE Association
A national network for the prevention of gender-based violence
In the prevention of gender-based violence, the quality and consistency of interventions aimed at men who perpetrate violence are crucial factors in reducing reoffending and strengthening the protection of women victims of violence. In this field, RELIVE – Relazioni Libere dalla Violenza APS represents a national point of reference.
Founded in 2014, RELIVE currently brings together around 45 Centres for Men Who Use Violence (CUAV) across Italy. The network promotes a shared approach based on perpetrator accountability, victim safety and high standards of intervention quality, working in close dialogue with Anti-Violence Centres and local services.
In the 2026–2027 biennium, Fondazione Marcegaglia supports RELIVE with a total contribution of 44,000 euro, allocated to the organisation of two national residential meetings. These events are key moments for training and peer exchange among CUAV professionals, fostering the sharing of skills and common operational practices.
Thanks to this support, 22 professionals per edition will be able to participate free of charge in the residential programmes, which include 16 hours of officially recognised training. This investment helps to structurally strengthen the CUAV network and, indirectly, the overall effectiveness of violence prevention and response actions nationwide.

PUR Carrara APS
Strengthening a local service for violence prevention
Alongside national network initiatives, the prevention of gender-based violence also relies on strengthening local services capable of providing continuous and qualified interventions. In this context, Fondazione Marcegaglia supports the Progetto Uomini Responsabili (PUR) in Carrara, an organisation active since 2015 in work with men who perpetrate violence.
PUR manages the Centre for Men Who Use Violence (CUAV) in Carrara, one of six recognised by the Tuscany Region, and works closely with Anti-Violence Centres, local institutions and the judicial authorities. Its intervention focuses on perpetrator accountability and reducing the risk of reoffending, with the ultimate goal of strengthening the safety of women victims of violence.
In 2025, Fondazione Marcegaglia already supported PUR with a €10,000 contribution, ensuring continuity of activities in a context of limited public funding and accompanying 67 users through tailored support pathways.
Supporting work with men who perpetrate violence means addressing the root causes of gender-based violence and strengthening long-term prevention. Through its support for RELIVE and PUR Carrara, Fondazione Marcegaglia contributes to building more solid and coordinated interventions that complement the work of Anti-Violence Centres, reduce the risk of reoffending and enhance the safety of women victims of violence and communities as a whole.
