There is a concrete possibility for change
For many women living in situations of violence, vulnerability or isolation, starting again is not immediate. It means finding a home, a job, and confidence in themselves. Above all, it means being able to choose again.
Thanks to the projects supported by Fondazione Marcegaglia, this journey becomes possible every day, through the work of anti-violence centres, associations and social cooperatives.
Behind these pathways there are real stories.
Stories of women who, step by step, are rebuilding their autonomy.
Natalia, Drittofilo project – Mantua
“My dream is to raise my son in safety.”
Natalia is 42 years old and arrived in Italy in 2025, fleeing the war in Ukraine with her child. Being deaf, she lived with the constant fear of not hearing air raid sirens or the arrival of bombs.
In Mantua, she found support at the Anti-Violence Centre and began a training path in the social tailoring workshop Drittofilo, supported by Fondazione Marcegaglia.
Here, she learned a profession.
Among fabrics and sewing machines, Natalia acquired skills, but above all regained confidence in herself. In February 2026, she started a traineeship: an important step towards employment and financial independence.
For her, autonomy means being able to make decisions about her own life.
And her goal is clear: to build a safe future for herself and her son.
Jocelyne, Solidarité Femmes 13 – Marseille
“Today I have found myself again.”
When Jocelyne arrived in Marseille, she had left her home to escape a situation of violence.
She felt broken, alone, without identity and without hope.
Joining the women’s group at Solidarité Femmes 13, supported by Fondazione Marcegaglia, marked the beginning of a different path.
Through weekly art therapy sessions, Jocelyne began working on herself and her life experiences. Drawing, yoga, sharing with other women and with her therapist became tools to process pain and give shape to her emotions.
At first, it was difficult.
Then, little by little, something changed.
One of the most meaningful exercises was creating a mask: a moment that allowed her to become aware of her past and begin to free herself from it.
Today, Jocelyne says she has rediscovered her identity.
She feels like a stronger, more aware woman, determined not to let herself be dominated again.
Irena, CavaRei – Forlì (Restart Italia)
“Working makes me feel good, it makes me feel alive.”
Irena has been living in Italy for many years. After losing her job due to health issues, she found herself without financial stability and without prospects.
Meeting the social cooperative CavaRei, supported by the Restart Italia project, changed her path.
In the tailoring workshop, she learned to use industrial machines, create handmade products and work on real commissions. After years of traineeships, in 2024 came a decisive step: a work contract.
For Irena, this means much more than a salary.
It means being part of a community, having a role, and regaining dignity.
It also meant fulfilling a small dream: adopting a dog, something she could not afford before.
A signature can change many stories
The stories of Natalia, Jocelyne and Irena are different, but they share one common element: someone believed in their possibility to start again.
The 5×1000 to Fondazione Marcegaglia helps support projects that accompany women throughout their journey: from initial support, to psychological assistance, to training and employment.
These are not isolated interventions, but part of an ongoing commitment by the Foundation, which operates in Italy and abroad to promote autonomy, inclusion and equal opportunities.
With a simple choice, it is possible to support pathways of renewal that involve hundreds of women every year, helping to strengthen communities and build concrete opportunities for the future.
